Yes, it’s Friday the 13th, but yours truly is feeling very fortunate and blessed today!!
Between the strikes and general downturn of activity in the industry at large, this year will probably not end up as good for placements as I would like. However, I have some HUGE irons in the fire which I will share with you at this moment!!
I wrote a song called “Hey Hey” that I’m extremely proud of and the lyric video I put up on FB got over 800 plays with everybody loving it!!! It ended up in a PSA for Women’s Empowerment Day that my dear friend Meloney Hudson created and is currently in the hands of a major Nashville song plugger who is walking it into Dolly Parton’s producer so fingers crossed!
This song has “These Boots Are Made For Walking” ju ju with powerful “going for it” female lyrics and a Kick Ass R&B singer named Melinda Vitale! I am pitching it for all kinds of movies and I have a really great feeling about it overall. It’s the kind of song you play and it makes you go, “Oh Yeah…I’m the Diva….I’m going for it!!”
I also wrote a song for the upcoming Mario Van Peebles movie, “The Price For Freedom”, with the same title. This film is about the Civil Rights Activist, Harry Moore and his wife, Harriet who pioneered civil rights activities in Florida a good 17 years before Dr. Martin Luther King started on his campaigns.
They were murdered Christmas night 1951 when their house blew up from a bomb placed underneath their home where their bedroom was. Harry died that night, and Harriet passed 9 days later. The perpetrators were never clearly identified and brought to justice back then.
Between the incompetent investigations of the FBI and law enforcement, and the political climate in Florida as a whole with a very active KKK organization, it wasn’t until many years later that they pinpointed who it most likely was. However, those people were long gone so justice was never served.
The singer I had wanted to do this, Madame Dee, was out of my price range. However, my dear friend Eric Floyd and his wife, Wanda Dee, contributed to her fee so I could afford her. The results are stunning!
This is an anthemic, pulsing, monster of a song and I have sent it along with “Hey Hey”, “Caged Bird” and a few of my Christmas songs for consideration in the movie.
As always, David Vasquez brought the magic to this song and I am hoping we can be a part of this historic project!
And let’s not forget that we started the year off right with a song in 2024 the Rose Parade! Thank you Level 77!
Loved seeing my song, “For Your Love” as the end credits song in “Frankenstein: Legacy” which came out in March of this year.
“Holiday For Hire” came out in July this year with all of the songs in it being mine so very grateful for that!
So far, new Christmas movies with my songs are: “Hocus Pocus Christmas”, “ A Heart For Christmas”, “A Christmas Of Wonders” and “3 Wishes For Christmas.”
And I promise to be better about blogging so check back in a month for updates!!
